The days of software installation and re-installation in case some files get corrupted are gone and in are the next generation of software that are web-based. The internet’s infusion into all the corners of the world is the culprit for it allows users from all over the world to share and send information to one another. The problem was the software the millions upon millions of individual computers had installed in them which are sometimes non interoperable. A computer with word 97 cannot open a document created in office 2007 and other similar cases. Throw in the advent of the latest Mac and all the other software installed onto them plus the rise of Open sourced systems based on Linux and you have a ton of software that just won’t cooperate with each other. Distributed installations had people left to their own accord on whether they had all the necessary patches and updates installed. Lack of vigilance when it comes to keeping all files up to date leaves them very much vulnerable to attack form fast propagating malware, many of which can change signatures from computer to computer, making detection difficult. Installing the software at a central location and offering it to all the users of the internet makes everything easier, one machine to update, install on and maintain eliminating the need for bridging software which was usually needed to get documents created on a Mac red and edited on Linux and Windows. No more stored information regarding format conversions, and other necessary files just one central core to the whole web.
