Accounting applications to accounting, finance staff and management only, and so on and so forth allowing people access to the information that is designed for them. The task may be great but imagine not having dedicated terminals for each and every user. A user from one department can access their sets of programs anywhere, even online and then do their work. It also allows easy backup of data for not much conversion and transfers from one platform to the next is needed. That might be far off but it will surely come for it is the next evolutionary step in the life of Information Technology.
