Posted by Avatar under News

search2.jpgWith the advent of more powerful servers that have several multi-core processors stacked one after the other and the advent of tera-byte storage capacities has greatly increased the power and storage capacities of such search engines but people still want more. They want focused and exact results you don’t have to pay for and developers are listening for users have joined in the voice of those who want information that is timely and relevant to their needs. So what should we expect of the search engine, would there be any changes soon? Most probably, for the internet is near full capacity and in 2010 it would be if the hardware resources are not upgraded and rehabilitated to accommodate the millions of users who add to the load. Search engines also have to cope with the ever increasing levels of information that is going digital. The next generation of search engines might have the ability to think as we do and that many become reality in the next few years.

Software as A Service (SAAS)

Posted by Avatar under News, Web Applications, Web Frameworks

saas.jpgThe concept is there but a final agreement of industry leaders is still in the works. Offering Software as a Service, promoters are seeing this as the next step for the internet and they are working hard to create their unique niches in the said application. Many are still wary of the concept but some have already released systems using the said structure. As we await a standardized set of guidelines for the development, implementation and use of SAAS, we might be getting just hype without the bite. There are many implementations of the concept, each with their own version of their understanding of how it should work. Many in the Open-type systems development have been promoting the idea and even Microsoft has accepted the fact that they have to face the light and cooperate with the rest of the world.

Their much publicized move on Yahoo which has apparently failed (but there are rumors of them continuing to go after the company, more discreetly this time) might be a sign of the company trying to get more of the market.
